The 3rd APRU-IRIDeS Campus Safety Workshop

Dates: February 12-15, 2020 

Venue: International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS), Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan 

As the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 highlights the importance of both natural and man-made hazards, the Campus Safety Workshop 2020 will focus on a wider scope of disaster risk reduction especially the man-made hazards on chemical/industrial, nuclear and radiological, and transport.

[Objectives]

  • Understand the natural and man-made disasters and their similarities and differences (particularly in preparation and response)
  • Learn how to conduct a comprehensive disaster risk assessment using an all-hazards approach in universities
  • Discuss how to prepare for and respond to these disasters within universities
