Cities and Refugees Global Student Design Competition

Cities throughout history have been formed by influxes of people. One of the major challenges for this is the assimilation of forcibly displaced people into cities in ways which create healthy and equitable living places for all.

Rapid Urbanisation Grand Challenge at UNSW Sydney, with Australian Red Cross, ARUP International Development, UNHCR, and the APRU Sustainable Cities and Landscapes Program Hub have organized a competition to address this challenge.

Registrations/expressions of interests have been received from places across Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UK, USA, and West Africa.

Juries include academics across universities, experts from ARUP, Australian Red Cross and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and Alexander Tzannes, the 2018 Australia Institute of Architecture Gold Medallis.
