The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has thanked APRU and all other members in the Friends of Ocean Cities network for their contributions in producing the Ocean Cities Regional Policy Guide, as well as the Ocean Cities the Ocean Cities Snapshot for Policy Makers. APRU has produced a series of policy briefs feeding into the project.

The Ocean Cities Regional Policy Guide promotes an integrated policy approach for ocean-friendly and climate-responsive urban development that is adapted to island systems and supports regional and global frameworks for sustainable development. The Ocean Cities Snapshot for Policy Makers provides an executive summary of the Ocean Cities concept. It outlines several policy recommendations for the implementation of solutions for urban climate resilience, sustainability of ocean resources and integration of landscape and seascape planning.

ESCAP launched the guide at the 5th Pacific Urban Forum (PUF5), in Nadi, Fiji, in July.
