On an APRU visit to the University of Indonesia Rector Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M. expressed interest in building on the strength of the APRU network by contributing to international research collaborations and student focused activities specifically on areas related to multi-hazards, renewable energy, UN Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable cities. APRU is developing strategies to strengthen the collaboration and activities with the University of Indonesia and enthusiastic about the possibilities.

Exploring opportunities to facilitate cross-cultural learning, leadership, and exposure to sustainability issues across the region, University of Indonesia is pursuing further development of student activities in the APRU network.

University of Indonesia will be hosting the Multi-Hazards Symposium in 2020. The Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Unit and Disaster Research and Response Centre will lead the drive for the Multi-Hazards Symposium.

UI is investing in cross-border collaboration and developing research capacities across the region in renewable energy. University of Indonesia hosts a Sustainable Energy Systems and Policy Research Cluster, Tropical Renewable Energy Center, and degrees on Energy Management and Economics (EME) and Renewable Energy and Microgrids (REM). With robust leadership in Renewable Energy, University of Indonesia is poised to lead the path toward a more sustainable future.

The University of Indonesia invites APRU universities to participate in the 2nd International Conference on Multidisciplinary Academic Research, in Bali, Indonesia on June 22-23 to engage in discussions and strategy development around “Facing Challenges” the theme of the conference.

Founded in 1849, University of Indonesia is one of the oldest educational institutions in Asia that covers wide array of scientific disciplines. UI’s students are active participants in APRU annual program activities such as Multi-Hazards. APRU appreciates UI’s hospitality and its contribution to APRU network for the creation of public good in benefits of the Asia-Pacific region.
