A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen the cooperation in science, technology and innovation between the Innovation Cooperation Centre (Bangkok), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS-ICC) and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) was signed today by Prof Biao Jiang, Vice President of Shanghai Advanced Research Institute and Mr Keith Wong, Director (APRU International Secretariat).

APRU and the CAS-ICC recognize the importance of strengthening the cooperation and partnership between the two organizations based on the recent global and regional development, particularly the One Belt One Road Initiative incorporating the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road proposed by China.

“APRU is looking forward to discuss opportunities for cooperation which are mutually beneficial to CAS-ICC and our members”, said Dr Christopher Tremewan, APRU Secretary General. Some opportunities include the development of exchange opportunities for scholars and students for training and scholarly activities and networking, promotion and implementation of joint research and development projects.

Both organizations will discuss and establish cooperative mechanisms to support joint capacity building and identify areas and proposal for future cooperation.
