Dr. Christopher Tremewan delivered a keynote speech at The 12th Hong Kong Workshop on Academic Foreign Exchange hosted at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on January 13, 2020.  This annual exchange is sponsored by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and is supported by the The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR and the Education Bureau of the HKSAR.

Dr Tremewan’s address entitled, “Addressing Global Challenges Together: the Next Phase of University Internationalization” stressed the importance of universities to act together to address the biggest challenges of today. The meeting brought together senior administrators from universities across China.

The whole workshop spanned across January 12-18, 2020 with the theme “Further Promoting the Understanding of Internationalization Best Practice for China.”  The meeting emphasized strategies to further enhance the level of international exchange to promote the long-term cooperation and development of universities in China.

After Prof. Wong Suk-Ying of CUHK provided welcoming remarks, Dr. Chen Heng, the Liaison Office’s Director of Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs spoke about the Central Government’s continuous support of the HKSAR’s education segment and Mr Lee Esmond Chung-sin, Deputy Secretary of the Education Bureau of the HKSAR gave an overview of higher education in Hong Kong.
