The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a comprehensive research university with a global vision. CUHK has been at the forefront of research. In its Strategic Plan 2021–2025, CUHK has identified four strategic areas to build on its strengths and leading advantages to address some of the most pressing issues of the world today. These areas are China: Tradition and ModernityInnovative BiomedicineInformation and Automation Technology and Environment and Sustainability. The prowess, variety and impact of research at CUHK can be further demonstrated from its establishment of five state key laboratories approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, past and ongoing Hong Kong University Grants Committee’s Areas of Excellence research projects, and the many research institutes and collaborations with eminent research institutions worldwide. In recognition of its innovative spirit, CUHK was ranked the most innovative university in Hong Kong in Reuters’ ranking of Asia Pacific’s Most Innovative Universities in 2016-19.
One of the best universities in the world, CUHK is ranked among the world’s elite for its international profile and took third place worldwide in Times Higher Education Most International Universities 2021.
