Founded in 1902, Nanjing University is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in China. It is listed in the first group of high-level universities in the national  ‘985 project’ and ‘211 project’, and is a member of the C9 League. With the motto of ‘Sincerity with Aspiration, Perseverance with Integrity,’ Nanjing University carries the spirit of constant striving for educational and academic excellence.

At present, NJU has 40,053 full-time students (13350 undergraduates, 25586 graduates, 1117 international students). Among its 2,197 faculty members, there are 1219 Professors, including 29 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 4 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Comprised of 33 schools, NJU runs 88 undergraduate programmes and 162 academic graduate programmes (under 48 disciplines). In 2022, 16 disciplines of NJU have been selected for China’s “Double First-class” Initiative.

NJU has strong scientific research strengths, especially in the field of basic research. Now it has 1 national laboratory, 7 national key laboratories, 9 key laboratories of MOE and 4 key bases for researching in humanities and social sciences of MOE.

In May 2022, NJU celebrated its 120th anniversary and successfully organized the 2022 Global University Presidents’ Forum, attended by more than 41 university presidents from home and abroad.
